Looking for the next big camera feature gimmick? How about Smile Shutter? Making its debut on Sony's new HDR-CX12 Memory Stick Handycam, the alliterative technology lets users simultaneously capture still photos and video. If the feature is turned on when the camera's recording video, it will automatically snap a photo when your subject smiles.

About the size of a soda can, according to Sony (2.8 by 5.3 by 2.8 inches), the HDR-CX12 Memory Stick Handycam records 1920-by-1080 HD video and captures photos with a 10-megapixel still camera. The camcorder also features a 2.7-inch LCD, Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround sound recording ClearVid CMOS sensor, and image stabilization. The HDR-CX12 is set for release in early August with a $900 price tag.

Cool! But will the smile recognition system distinguish a real smile from a fake 'Alligator' smile? I'll surely try it out for myself. Can't wait.
