Great video from Boing Boing: BB Gadgets editor Joel Johnson takes a militarily focused voice translator from Integrated Wave Technologies (it seems to work much like the Voxtec Phraselator Brittany Petersen wrote about in Gearlog a while ago) to the Brooklyn streets and attempts to communicate with his neighbors from other lands, with questionable success.
It's a bit of rough going, since most of the gadget's included phrases are in the vein of, "Down on the ground!" The whole experience does spark some deep thoughts from Joel. And the closing shot is worth waiting for.
