HP announced today, at its Connecting Your World event in Berlin, sixteen new notebook models that range from consumer to business models. The company stated that all of the models were designed with the environment in mind, with energy-efficient features and select materials for easier recycling.
Among the consumer line are the Pavilion dv4, dv5 and dv7 Entertainment notebooks, the Pavilion tx2500 Tablet PC, and the Presario CQ40, CQ45 and CQ50 notebooks. Three of the models use Intel Core 2 Duo processors and can be upgraded with 4GB of RAM and fingerprint scanners. Webcams and microphones are a standard feature on all models. Additionally, HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection has been built in; this automatically detects if a notebook has been dropped, stopping the hard drive from spinning during its journey to the floor.
Another model, the Pavilion tx2500 Tablet, uses an AMD Turion 64 X2 Duel Core processor, with up to 4GB of RAM, 160GB to 320GB HDD, and a standard fingerprint reader. The display is 12.1 inches and has WXGA resolution, and the tx2500 has both Wi-Fi and Gig E. The new Presario models all use AMD Athlon and Sempron processors, have up to 2GB RAM and up to 250GB HDD, and NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G graphics. The screens are 15.4 inches with WXGA resolution. A 5-in-1 memory card reader is optional, as is a webcam.
HP also introduced the HP xb4 Notebook Media Docking Station and HP Bluetooth Stereo Headphones with noise cancellation.
A new business range of notebooks, the Elitebook series, was announced as well. This elitist notebook meets military standards for dust, vibration, humidity, altitude and temperatures, and supports 45nm Intel Core 2 Duo 9000 and 8000 series CPUs. Up to 8GB of RAM can be installed, and a choice of 120GB to 250GB 5,400-rpm SATA hard-drives or 120GB/160GB 7,200-rpm SATA drives. Optical drives options include SuperMulti or Blu-ray, and the 14.1-inch WXGA or WXGA+ display is powered by an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 or Intel integrated graphics. Networking includes WiFi a/b/g/draft-n, Bluetooth 2.0 and Gig E.
