Hasbro-Millenium-Falcon.jpg

Gearlog got a glimpse of Hasbro's upcoming toys today at a hotel in midtown Manhattan. While my colleagues were petting the scarily real plush puppydogs, I was distracted by the big Millennium Falcon sitting at the other end of the room. Chalk it up to adult ADD or just a lifelong obsession with a galaxy far, far away, but I couldn't wait to get a closer view of the thing.

Upon closer inspection, this was clearly not the same mockup of Han Solo's trusty, if well-worn, ship we've seen before. For starters, the ship is a lot bigger than I remember--30-percent, in fact. According to Hasbro, this is the first update to the toy Falcon in 30 years, because, after all this time, the mold they had been using to churn out ship after ship finally broke down. So why not go bigger and better?

Aside from the size difference, there are a slew of updates to the Falcon. It now holds up to 18 action figures (Han and Chewie come with it). It's got movie quotes built-in as well; we got to hear the voice of Sir Alec Guinness emerging from its rear; flashing lights, and a lot of other faithful film updates. Check out the video for a full rundown.

Also at Hasbro's line show were many tie-ins for the upcoming animated feature film, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. There was a big AT-TE walker that holds up to 20 clone trooper figures, a life-size clone trooper helmet with voice amplifier, and an army of action figures, including familiar faces like Anakin Skywalker, R2D2, and, as always, Yoda.

All the Hasbro Star Wars products will be available in late July.

My 6 year old wanted and got the AT-TE for Christmas. Worthless. Any time he touches or tries to play with it the legs fall off. Save your $100/do not buy!!
