ampbot.jpgTiger Electronics announced the release of a brand new toy robot this morning, branded the A.M.P. (Automated Musical Personality) Bot. Our editor-in-chief, Lance Ulanoff aptly describes the 2.5-foot robot as "the love-child of a Segway and Short Circuit's Johnny Five."

The robot is designed for teens and adults aged 16 to 25. It weighs 15 pounds, balances on two wheels, and has optional remote control. The balancing act comes courtesy of the device's proprietary gryroscopic technology. A.M.P. also has a small backpack where users can store an MP3 player which attaches to the robot via a 3.5 mm jack.

Presale is set to begin in August, with full retail availability following in October. The 'bot will likely run between $400 and $500.

Only for adults 16-25??? Sounds like age discrimination to me. I'm 48; this thing is cool. If I can't get one, I'm going to call my lawyer.

There you go Chasm!!Lets get a class-action suit going.Take it a step further.Go for a walk thru your local toy's are us and write down every toy with an age reccomendation and sue them too!!! Instead of a cash settlement, take it in toys!!!! Then donate everything except one of each to Toy's For Tots.Help yourself to free toys and disabled kids too!!!Sounds like a win-win situation to me!!

No sound?

Clearly this video needs to be redone with the Terminator theme song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFj56ZNGTd0
