When rumors of Ferrari's attempts at fuel efficiency first began to circulate, I was rather quick to dismiss them as nothing more than self-serving corporate greenwash. But having looked at the new iteration of the Enzo, I stand corrected.
The breathtaking new Millechili concept embodies the automaker's fresh "less is more" philosophy, aimed at the new petrol-weary breed of speed demons. Instead of strangling the engine and silencing its one-of-a-kind Maranello music, the company attacked the vehicle's weight, achieving 40 percent better fuel economy. The new V10 will also be 25 percent cleaner at no expense to the performance. Translation: 0 to 62 mph in 3.65 seconds and a top speed of 225 mph or better.
According to Wired, the new Millechili will weigh a mere 1,000 kilos. In fact, "not only is that 660 pounds lighter than the Enzo, it's 200 pounds lighter than a Mazda MX-5 Miata and only 216 pounds heavier than the Lotus Elise."
