Looking to beat the pants off that smug Mustang driver in the next lane while saving the environment? Forbes admits their list of the fastest hybrids currently available is really a list of compromises. After all, when measured against non-hybrids, these aren't the quickest cars available, and with regard to fuel economy, these aren't all that great in that department either. But some surprisingly good performers made the list.
Topping the charts is the five-passenger Lexus GS 450h, which is about as fast as a base Porsche 911. It actually adds power when compared to its (V8!) gasoline-powered sibling; the car scoots to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds, while achieving EPA numbers of 22 city/25 highway. Meanwhile, the Cadillac Escalade Hybrid, Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid and GMC Yukon Hybrid manage 0-60 times of around eight seconds, along with a robust 6,200 pound towing capacity and an average of 21 mpg according to the EPA.
