In a conference call earlier today and a letter that just went out to Helio subscribers, Virgin Mobile USA CEO Dan Schulman and Helio staffers gave out some interesting details about what's to become of Helio's services and customers once Virgin snaps them up. Here are some highlights:
The Helio brand is going away, replaced by the Virgin Mobile brand.
But Virgin Mobile really likes Helio's data services and wants to offer them to more people.
They like Helio's handsets, too. Hint hint.
Virgin thinks they can offer a Helio-like product at "$40-70/month," as opposed to $80 or more.
Helio service continues uninterrupted. To some extent Virgin is migrating to Helio's platforms, not the other way around.
Whether future Virgin handsets will have the Helio interface and run WIPI applications is still up in the air.
Check out our report on pcmag.com and the letter from Helio for more.

poor virgin! within a year or so, virgin will realize it has bought more than it bargained for. virgin has just adopted a black sheep from sk telecom. virgin has a better chance of boosting its business on its own strength. now it's got a huge baggage to carry around wherever it goes.

I believe Virgin made a good choice. Helio had phones that could do everything a iphone could do years before and cheaper. Virgin Mobile has nothing without adding Helio. The All-In plans are great and cheaper than most phone companies. Even the phones sell for less with more options than most phones on the market. I know people who would have changed over but had contracts with other companies. I am sorry to see Helio go.

As a Helio user, I look forward to possible lower prices and possibly better service(even though it's fine now) eh we shall see. My contract is up this year.
