CLEVER_CNG.jpg

If you've been craving a three-wheeler that runs on alternative fuel, check out this concept. It's called CLEVER—which stands for (get ready) 'Compact Low Emissions Vehicle for Urban Transport.' The Technical University of Berlin is behind the project, which is to build a city commuter that runs on compressed natural gas (CNG).

It seems to score well on both counts. According to GoodCleanTech, it's capable of "62 mph with a range of about 125 miles, all the while emitting less than 60 g/km of CO2." Translated, that means it's good for about 108 miles per gallon, which puts it squarely in the range of plug-in hybrid designs.

The report said that the university claims the vehicle is as agile as a motorcycle—but unlike its two-wheel counterparts, the CLEVER's tilting "is controlled by the car's computer systems rather than the driver."
