For those who prefer their environmentally-friendly cars to have a little muscle, Breckland Technology in the UK has debuted its Beira V-8 roadster, GreenCar reports. The car features a modified General Motors 6.0-liter LS2 V-8, which is the same block as the one used in the Chevrolet Corvette and Pontiac G8.
The article said that Breckland Technology builds the Beira on the General Motors Kappa platform, which is normally used for the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky roadsters. The engine is tuned to produce 400 horsepower, and modified for bi-fuel operation on either gasoline or liquid propane gas. The Beira has a range of about 700 miles on the combined capacity of 15.6 gallons of gasoline and 18.5 gallons of LPG.
The Beira can hit 60 mph in under five seconds, reach 155 mph, and comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, the latter of which is always nice to see in an alternative fuel vehicle.
