alltellogo.jpgAlltel Wireless today rolled out a series of upgrades to its EVDO Revision-A network set to occur over the next six months. Among the enhancements to the service is the addition of coverage in markers including Little Rock, Charlotte, New Orleans, Phoenix, and Tampa, for both "rural and urban markets."

Currently some 75-percent of the provider's market is covered by the company's EVDO network (which claims to offer speeds up to 3.1 Mbps). By the end of the year, that number will be closer to 82-percent--by that time, Verizon is also expected to have completed its purchase of the company.

Alltel's EVDO plans run $59.99 a month.
