Porsche has officially unveiled the 2009 911 Carrera. Many of the changes are evolutionary—Porsche fans wouldn't have it any other way, and many are still shaken up from the whole air-cooled-to-water-cooled thing from 10 years ago. But together, the new changes look to add up to another one of those "Best 911 Yet" monikers that the automotive press loves to toss around.
Car and Driver reports that the 2009 model will feature a bump in horsepower from 325 to 345, direct injection, a redesigned dashboard, a new seven speed dual-clutch transmission that replaces the old five-speed Tiptronic, and new LED front and rear lights. The driveline improvements are good for a 24 mpg average, which is a stellar figure for such a fast car if it proves true in EPA testing.
The car will start at $75,000 here in the U.S.; the more expensive Carrera S will ring in at $86,200 and now feature 385 hp. (There are no interior photos available yet, but as soon as we get one, I'll post it.)
