I had a Wi-Fi-detecting USB Flash key a few years ago. Back then, I thought the thing was pretty neat. And it sort of made sense, right? A portable computer accessory with a Wi-Fi signal detector built-in--something of a Wi-Fi dowsing rod with on-board memory.
Since then, however, a rash of manufacturers have been building the feature into slightly less obvious objects: like, say t-shirts or sneakers. Ang really, if you're going to do that, why not shove Wi-Fi into a $20 ballpoint pen?
Available at Gadget4all, the Wi-Fi Signal Finder Pen features built-in green LED lights that display the strength of the Wi-Fi signal in your surroundings on a scale of one to four bars. It won't give you the names of the networks or tell you whether they're secure, but as far as I can tell, the pen does seem to write, which is always a nice feature.
