Panasonic is launching two new models in the Strata F-Series line of high-end in-dash navigation units, Engadget reports. Coming to Japan in June (with no word yet on a U.S. release), the CN-HX1000D and the CN-HW1000D both feature 7-inch displays with 800-by-480-pixel resolution, full-featured remote controls, built-in Bluetooth, AM/FM tuners, iPod connectivity, DVD and CD players, terrestrial television tuners, and internal hard disks that store music and graphical map data.
The report said that the only noticeable difference between the two units is their physical size: The CN-HX1000D is a single-DIN unit, while the CN-HW1000D features a double-DIN design. Other nice features include a home control system that lets you turn on and off lights in the house or on the porch, as well as adjusting your central HVAC system. Both units cost in the neighborhood of $3,400 (translated from yen), which is significantly higher than what the Strata line currently tops out at in the U.S.
