Microsoft continues working the indie cred angle for the Zune, with the upcoming release of a graphic novel through its Zune Arts program. Titled The Lost Ones, the comic is being penned by 30 Days of Night author, Steve Niles. The story is being touted as an "epic intergalactic adventure," featuring four chapters illustrated by four fairly divergent artists.
The illustrators are graffiti artist Dr. Revolt; Brooklyn design team Morning Breath; fashion designer Kime Buzzelli; and legendary graphic artist Gary Panter. Says Zune's art brand manager, Rob Schaltenbrand: "'The Lost Ones' gives us the chance to extend the Zune Arts platform by tapping into new genres and audiences. We're excited to work with such a talented group of artists and storytellers to bring this project to life"
That's all well and good, but when do I get my Gary Panter-designed Zune? J Allard, I'm looking at you. In the meantime, you'll be able to pick up The Lost Ones in June.
