Garmin_nuvi_5000.jpg

If you like your GPS screens oversized, the Garmin nuvi 5000 has you covered. Its 5.2-inch screen sports a genre-busting 800-by-480-pixel resolution, although it makes up for it with some significant heft, weighing in at 9.3 ounces and being too large to fit in a shirt pocket. That's fine, because it doesn't contain an internal battery; this is purely a device for the car. It has a standard composite in (for hooking up a backup camera).

Craig Ellison found in his PC Magazine review that the nuvi 5000, like the slightly smaller (but still oversized) Magellan Maestro 5310, gives up some functionality to achieve the large screen size. The 5000 lacks Bluetooth capability, a currency converter, a world clock, a calculator, and traffic reporting—all features that you can find on other Garmin GPS products. At almost $800, it's also rather expensive. Check out PC Magazine's full review for more details.
