Lest you thought the Tesla would remain the only electric supercar we'd ever see, Hybrid Technologies is planning to build two versions of the AXP beauty you see here, according to a Popular Mechanics report. The first will be a gas-electric hybrid version in a bid to capture the Automotive X Prize. The second will be an all-electric car for sale to the public—and the company is promising a drivable prototype by this September.

Citing an "overwhelming" lack of comfort in today's supercars, project development engineer Ron Cerven said in the report that design would center around the passenger and drivetrain. At the same time, the company is gunning for a 150 to 180 mile range for the electric car, and a stratospheric 220 mpg for the Li-Ion-powered gas-electric hybrid.
