dhmxspeaker.jpgA company called HMDX also had a few products at today's Holiday Gift Guide show that managed to catch our eye. Essentially a consumer tech offshoot of health care manufacture, HoMedics, the company offers a handful of low-end (read: cheap) but interesting audio devices.

Priced at $9.99, the Speaker on the Go is a clever and cheap little combo device. Essentially a hard MP3 carrying case with speakers built into the front. Inside, the case holds an MP3 player on onside, connected with a standard 1/8th-inch jack and two AA batteries on the other. We've been playing around with the device a bit around the office. This thing gets loud--though, as expected, this thing rates pretty low on the sound quality. A coworker thought that the Flaming Lips I was bumping down the hall was Bryan Adams. There's really no excuse for that.

Also in the line is the Audio sprocket. The device hits the same price point and offers more or less the same sound quality. It comes in silver, blue, and red, and looks a bit like a big plastic flower that kicks out the low wattage jams.

What do you expect for 10 bucks dude, just because you cant blast you eardrumbs into oblivion doesn't mean it isn't loud enough for us who havn't gone half deaf. I bought this for my ipod touch and it's great for carrying onto my belt loop. Not only that but it keeps the ipod from shifting around and also keeps it protected from everyday bumps. slayer on full blast doesn't sound good on most small systems like this.

I agree with Joe. Just bought one and it's fantastic. The clip on the end of it is brilliant. No, it's not audiophile quality, but for $10 it's a bargain. It's the best $10 I've spent in a long time and I might go buy the rest of them at my local store and give them out as presents. It protects the iPOD very well. My 30gb iPOD video lasts more than 2 1/2 hours with it. Fantastic product!

Just got one as a gift. Works great with my Itouch.
From soft to loud, very clear sound. I could not belive it when I found out it was only $10.
Great buy! A+

The quality of the sound depends on the device used when listening to the speakers. i own a sprint "instinct" cell phone and the quality of the sound is outstanding. no complaints here....p.s.- i have so many frndz that want pone that i'm gonna buy about ten of them next month and here's the sweert part, twenty bucks is my going price. they'll be sold within a week, i'm positive. thumbz up folks. keep makin' um! ck out the "power pail"*********
