Hitachi's Global Storage Technology arm today announced two new hard drives specially designed for use with DVRs, set-top boxes, and media center PCs.
The 2.5-inch CinemaStar C5K320 and 3.5-inch CinemaStar 5K500 both feature "bedroom quiet operation," wider operating temperature ranges, and Smart Command Transport for video streaming error recovery.
The CinemaStar 5K500 offers 500GB of storage space and uses the company's new CoolSpin technology, which delivers high power, quiet operations while consuming less energy than most drives their size. The CinemaStar C5K320, meanwhile, is available in 120GB to 320GB capacities and offers Hitachi's SmoothStream technology, designed to enhance video streaming capabilities.
Both devices are set to ship in June.
