That's a lot of dough! There's a rumor floating around (courtesy of Engadget Mobile) that the Garmin nüvifone will debut on AT&T in the third quarter this year for a staggering $499, or exactly the same price as the 16GB Jesus Phone.
Apparently it was from a tipster, who was asked the following question in a focus group study: "Now, how likely would you be to buy the Garmin nüvifone (for yourself or as a gift) if offered by AT&T for $499.99 with a two year contract? You would be required to have both a data plan that would include unlimited Internet browsing and unlimited navigation for $19.99 per month and one of the standard voice rate plans for a monthly fee."
On the other hand, the Garmin nüvifone will feature some top-line specs, including a 3.5-inch touchscreen, GPS navigation (obviously), 3.5G data speeds, built-in Wi-Fi, and a 3-megapixel camera. In other words, if any cell phone out there could replace a current, portable GPS device, it'll be this one.
