Netherlands-based company Czeers has built what appears to be the first solar-powered speedboat. That's not an inappropriate word either; the Czeers MK1 is capable of reaching speeds of 55 kilometers per hour (30 knots), or about 35 mph—not too bad for something that runs for free.
The Czeers MK1 features an external shell constructed entirely of carbon fiber and fitted with solar panels. There's also a plush leather interior and a fully touch-based control system. In operation, the MK1's 80 kilowatt motor is also completely silent. That's probably OK on the water providing that there are enough lights on the thing to compensate. Suffice to say that it's probably not cheap. For more on the Czeers MK1 speedboat, check out our report on GoodCleanTech.
