Takara_Wheel.jpgTakara has announced a new kind of computerized steering wheel that can talk to a separate sensor installed in your vehicle, in an effort to minimize driver distractions. According to NaviGadget, it can warn the driver about certain aspects of your car such as if there's a door open, if a tire has low air pressure, and so on.

The Takara steering wheel can also work with your GPS system courtesy of a collaboration with Navigon. Their new portable navigation integration allows for key safety and navigation instructions via a two-way communication link between the Navigon 7100 portable GPS unit and the CSW steering wheel, according to the report. That means the wheel can display important navigation elements as well as allow for easy remote control of the navigation unit. So far, there's no word on any automakers adopting the new wheel technology.
