Yesterday I declared my love for the Pure Digital Flip Video camera to the folks at Nerve.com. Apparently, though, not everyone is smitten with the device. Suffern, NY-based Advanced Video Technologies, LLC (AVT) has filed a patent suit against the manufacturer.

The Flip has managed to capture an impressive 13 percent of the American camcorder market since its inception, thanks to its low price point and easy upload to popular video sharing sites like YouTube. But AVT's suit claims that the portable USB camcorder nabbed the company's Full Duplex Single Chip Video Codec patent, which keeps videos that are recorded with the device compressed but still relatively sharp. AVT is seeking unspecified damages and royalties, according to Reuters.
