The E+ is not your typical mountain bike. Made by Electric Motion Systems and powered by an auxiliary EMS hub mounted 36V 9AH battery pack, this electric 2-wheeler is good for 20 miles with no pedaling. And should you decided to put in some muscle, the bike's range extends to 40 miles.
The bicycle is powered by a proprietary EMS-designed 1000 watt brushless permanent magnet motor with a state-of-the-art Texas Instruments 32-bit 280x Digital Signal Processor and direct torque control. This allows riders to simply push a throttle when they want electric power.
30 mph top speed for the off-road version ain't bad, but won't exactly blow your hair back. E+ also offers a healthy does of tech, boasting features like 19-mode cycling, cruise control, regenerative braking, and a pretty advance LCD display with speed, distance traveled, and battery capacity data. Yet, when you factor in a $3,495 price tag, it becomes increasingly clear that riding a bike the old fashioned way is a much wiser proposition.
