New Novatel modem AT&T has the fastest wireless data network around, and today Novatel Wireless released a new USB modem to hook up your laptop to that HSPA goodness. The MC992D combines 850/1900 Mhz HSDPA and HSUPA with quad-band EDGE for roaming outside AT&T's 3G high-speed areas. It throws in a GPS, and even a MicroSD memory card slot so you can read the memory card from your cell phone. And it supports Windows, Mac and Linux.

The MC992D is fast: it uses HSDPA 7.2 and Category 6 HSUPA, which are even faster than AT&T's systems. But the real news here is the size. At just 89 x 25 x 13.5 mm, this elegant little stick won't weigh down your USB port. The eensy little modem will be available during the third quarter, according to Novatel.
