AutoWeek reports that Chrysler's product development chief said the company plans to sell a hybrid-electric powered Dodge Ram pickup in 2010. Frank Klegon, Chrysler executive vice president of product development, said at the SAE 2008 World Congress in Detroit on Monday that the hybrid version of its high-volume pickup is one part of the automaker's plans to revamp its entire product line.
Klegon mentioned several developments on the tech front as well. He said that Chrysler plans to sell UConnect, an integrated dash solution similar to Ford's Sync offering. Chrysler's UConnect wirelessly connects to a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone and allows the user to dial hands-free using voice-activated software, the report said. In addition, the Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country will have a blind-spot-detection system for 2009 as an option, as well as a separate system that alerts the driver about oncoming traffic when exiting a parking spot.
