Road & Track posted a report on the Audi R8 TDI Le Mans, a concept version of the European R8 TDI we covered back in January. According to the report, the Le Mans features unique exterior touches, including honeycomb-trimmed grille openings and carbon-fiber "sideblade" trim behind the doors. Interior upgrades include aluminum trim as well as more carbon fiber, all of which helps further set this oil-burning edition apart from the gasoline-powered R8.

The interior photos speak for themselves. There's been a steady drumbeat of reports about how clean diesel power will be a viable alternative for car enthusiasts who want to go green, but also not give up the driving characteristics that make sports cars such as the R8 special. With 500 horsepower and 737 lb ft of torque, and back-to-back TDI-powered wins at Le Mans in 2006 and 2007, I don't think anyone in their right mind would complain.
