One of the best demos at Apple's iPhone event was of Electronic Arts' upcoming everything-simulation game, Spore. EA exec Travis Boatman demoed a fully iPhone-d Spore, which lets you move your little guy around by tilting the phone and customize him by touching things on the screen.

EA actually managed to port 18 levels of Spore and a level editor to the iPhone in two weeks, thanks to the commonalities between the iPhone and the Mac platform. (They use the same development environment, XCode.) Spore is coming out in September, and EA says it will be the "first third party game" for the iPhone. Which makes me think that's a heck of a challenge for Gameloft and EA's other competitors - will they try to put out a game first?
