Pandigital Kitchen HDTV

I love to cook, so I find myself in the kitchen a lot on the weekends perfecting a meal with TiVo'ed episodes of The View playing in the background. Most of the time I'm trying to find a quicker or better way to make a meal (I'm picky when it comes to making a meal just right), so I'm forced to bypass my cookbooks in lieu of the computer, searching for the best way to make that meal. This, of course, can be time consuming, since a cookbook can only offer you so much (I tend to always spill something on the pages). And it's a pain to have to keep reentering the kitchen.

Enter Pandigital's Kitchen HDTV/Digital Cookbook/Digital Photo Frame, which combines an HDTV, digital cookbook, and digital photo frame. Now that's my kind of kitchen companion! Here's a more specific rundown of its features:

  • HDTV: This High Definition TV (1280x720 HD-ready resolution) lets customers watch their favorite cooking shows and other TV programming in the kitchen. It supports ATSC/NTSC, composite, S-Video, YPbPr and HDMI.
  • Digital Cookbook: Stained, tattered cookbooks are a thing of the past. Pre-loaded recipes are included to make this Pandigital Digital Cookbook ready to use. Plus, additional recipes can be copied onto the frame's internal memory, so customers' favorites are always close by.
  • Digital Photo Frame: Enjoy precious photos where family and friends gather the most. Copy them onto the digital photo frame's 512MB memory via the memory card reader (supports SD, XD, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro/Memory Stick Duo, Compact Flash and MultiMediaCard) or by a connection to Google's Picasa photo sharing website.

The Pandigital Kitchen HDTV/Digital Cookbook/Digital Photo Frame is protected from water, oil, flour, and other ingredients, thanks to its mess-proof design. It comes with a countertop stand and under-cabinet mount to free up counter space. Like most digital photo frames on the market, it has interchangeable faceplates in brushed stainless and black and white.

Look for the Pandigital Kitchen HDTV/Digital Cookbook/Digital Photo Frame this June for a suggested retail price of $399.99. Not bad, considering that's around how much some Wi-Fi-enabled digital photo frames cost these days.

So how big is this frame? The website shows one with less resolution at 15".

Why not get a linux driven laptop, use a web browser and get all the cookbooks/pictures/etc. that you need for under $200+. An old laptop (pentium 2, 3, +), 128 MB memory, 5+ GB hard-drive, ethernet or wireless network. Go to it.
