Behold The Motorized Monocycle. With its fiberglass frame housed in a 67" diameter outer flywheel, this innovative vehicle is sure to guarantee a head-turning journey. And if a top speed of 25 MPH isn't thrilling enough, riding on a single wheel should more than make up for it.
The monocycle tradition dates back to the 1860s France. However, its twenty first century version has come into its own, boasting a 31cc, four-stroke 11/2-hp engine and a centrifugal clutch located in the monocycle's inner steel casing. The fiberglass enclosure contains all the drivetrain components and the fuel tank, while its outer frame is equipped with a cushioned seat and convenient footrests for riders up to 6' 3" tall. What's more, the monocycle is pretty fuel-efficient, allowing riders weighing under 275 lbs almost 2 hours of cruising time on less than half a gallon of gasoline.
Also, is it just me, or does its profile bare a sticking resemblance to the Mozilla Firefox logo?
The single-wheel, wind-in-your-hair experience will set you back $12,999.95 - a bit much if you ask me. The Motorized Monocycle is offered through the Hammacher Schlemmer catalog. To learn more go here.
