While details are kind of scanty, projector maker InFocus has agreed to use the USB display technology from DisplayLink to develop a new line of projectors due in the second half of 2008.
As PC Mag's Oliver Rist points out, the DisplayLink tech works well, provided that you're not expecting to run high-end games over the USB cable's limited bandwidth. On the other hand, think about how many portable projectors are taken on the road simply to run some basic PowerPoint presentations. Sure, the salesmen that run them surely know how to plug them in, but fiddling with a projector cable before making the most important pitch of your life just adds unnecessary stress. This seems like a good match for both technologies.
