Asus%20G10IL.JPGPocket-lint.co.uk brings word of a new sub-$500 PC making the rounds at the CeBIT show in Germany: the ECS G10IL, obviously a competitor to the Eee PC from Asus.

Details are reportedly sketchy, but the laptop apparently includes three USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet port, VGA connection, 56k modem and built-in HSDPA 7.2 -- the latter of which seems like an interesting choice, given the relative cost of Wi-Fi components versus HSDPA.

Meanwhile, Asus has launched the Eee PC 900 12G, a slightly more expensive version of the existing Eee PC (review here) that pumps up the screen to a larger 8.9-inch display with a 1024x600 resolution, and adds a 12-Gbyte solid-state drive and Wi-Fi, all for a slightly more expensive $600 price tag.
