In spite of the fact that, as expected, the replacement of longtime Cuban leader Fidel Castro is his brother, Raul, the coming weeks, months, and years will no doubt see a number of changes for the citizens of Cuba. The latest announced reform is a breath of fresh air for the nation's potential gadget enthusiasts.
Cuban officials announced earlier today that the country, which currently has Latin America's lowest rate of cellphone usage, will allow more people the use of the technology. In the past it's been largely restricted to state officials and visitors from other countries.
ETECSA, the nation's sole telecom provider, announced plans to open service to the public in the next few days via the communist newspaper, Granma.
