Keys, scarves, wallets--these are all common things to lose track of, but a $1,800 MacBook Air? Surely you would go to great lengths to keep tabs on such an investment.
Newsweek columnist Steven Levy was not so diligent. When his ultra-thin laptop recently disappeared, he combed his apartment, retraced his steps, and put in a call to an amused Apple representative ("one of them couldn't stop laughing"). His effort proved fruitless, however, and he finally deduced that he had accidentally thrown out the pricey notebook with a bunch of old newspapers headed for the recycler.
Yes, it appears that the MacBook Air fits just as easily into a trash compactor as it does a manila envelope.
"As humiliating as it sounds, let me repeat: the MacBook Air is so thin that it got tossed out with the newspapers," Levy wrote.
Not to worry, Newsweek has promised to fork over $1,800 for the loss.

I feel bad for the poor guy, but DAMN if that's not an awesome endorsement. :D

That is the proper demographic, dim and irresponsible people who spend other people's money.
Where would Apple be without them

Hey Alan,
Not only is this story an awesome ad for Apple, but so is that other story about the guy who wrote "Steve Jobs Made Me Miss My Flight," because the TSA folks didn't believe the Air was a real laptop. I swear, Apple couldn't *pay* for better ad design than this stuff.
