The 2009 Toyota Corolla is the latest indication that even low-end cars are beginning to incorporate more interior electronics—at least as options, if not as standard equipment. The XLE, S, and XRS models all have optional JBL Audio systems, which include AM, FM, and six-disc CD changers along with MP3 and WMA playback ability, XM satellite-radio compatibility, and eight speakers.

There's also an optional touchscreen navigation system that incorporates a different stereo—AM, FM, and single CD with six speakers, also with MP3 and WMA playback capability and XM satellite compatibility. The instrument clusters also differ among the models. The S (without woodgrain) can get the navigation system, but retains the regular tachometer and speedometer.

The XLE (with woodgrain), meanwhile, gets electroluminescent gauges for a more upmarket look. The Corolla isn't the most involving drive, even in revised 2009 guise, but its interior certainly looks like a pleasing place to spend time in.
