The most mesmerizing product at the Toy Fair goes to the Musical DNA Software. The technology is a bit over my head, so I'll try to explain it as best as I can. You see, music is the universal language, right? Well, Ken Lemons, creator of the software and also a music lover, decided to develop a technology that uses rainbow-colored geometry to "light-up" music. That way, a person can see "the larger structures of music and how the ensuing shapes fit together, like pieces of a puzzle." Lemons discovered that in 2D, music is a circle; in 3D, however, music is a spiral, comparable to a spiraling strand of DNA!
Musical DNA can be used as an educational music tool, language translation, child development, musical recording, music composition, and beyond. Musical DNA Software will be releasing in a week or so The Master Key Teaching Method: The Foundation for Pianoa handbook that teaches the fundamentals of music through visual learningas well as the 1.0 release version software, allowing users to plug in all MIDI instruments to light up musical sound. This software is said to show instrument fingerboards, musical notation, 2D and 3D music visualizations, and 2D and 3D rhythmic visualizations. Both the software and handbook are expected to retail for $50.
Check out my brief interview with Ken Lemons below!
Interesting visuals. My only concern is that I make up my own visualizations during my piano solo performances and/or my composing of a piece. This is key to my creativity. Having said that, I did find the video that you provided to be both entertaining and thought provoking.

In response to Daniel E. Friedman,
I am a student of the products inventor (Ken Lemmons) and I must share a brief story: I had studied classical music for 7 years and with all my studies I understood very little about music and its structure. After studying with Ken for a year using his "master key method" I understood how every thing is just a series of shapes (chords ) and scale patterns. One year after learning his system I made a very interesting discovery, I leadened that if I could combine shapes, I could create very interesting sounds. Such as playing a C7 in my left hand and a d triad in my right hand. What happened (purely by accident at first) was that I began to play/create jazz.
I guarantee that you can create any unique sound you want and the shape reflected on Kens system will match it exactly. This is the beauty of his system is that you can be as creative as you want and the system just relies on the math to match it up.
For a sample of what Kens teaching method (found in his upcoming book that parallels the software) did for me, check out my old myspace page at www.myspace.com/isaacnamias
this is me after a year of playing jazz (two years after learning Kens system)

I think that this huge! This is just the beginning!
I would like to extend best wishes to my friends in the Indy area (Ken Lemmons and Scott Kuhn)
I have been in full support of this new concept.
