One of the highlights of Toy Fair, for me, is getting to see upcoming toys from Hasbro. This company has been getting more and more involved in incorporating cool technology into its toys; this year I was pleasantly surprised to see some very interesting and out-of-the-box design in some toys as well. And then, there's Indiana Potatohead (posing at left with Molly).
Take a look after the jump at my pictures of new iDogs, otherworldly ROOM TECH Beingz, and more.
These cool little gadgets aren't exactly toys; on the left is a digital alarm clock and on the right is a "mood lamp." Not only do they look sort of edgy and art-toyish, they are also designed to interact with each other. When the clock goes off in the morning, it begins to tap its arms, and it also sends digital signals to other Room Tech beingz: The lamp begins to glow and change colors. More Room Tech gadgets are coming. I'm not a tween, but I like totally want these! Coming this fall, $39.99 each.

Hasbro is bringing out several new additions to its iDog line. This is the iDog Clip, which can play your iPod's music out of embedded speakers or pass it along to your headphones. Like the classic iDog, LEDs in its face light up in different colors in time to your music. Fall, $14.99.

The iDog Dance looks more like the original iDog, but it's much funkier: It will be able to stand on its hind legs and dance when you play music through it. Fall, $39.99

The iDog Soft Speaker is a plush, cuddly version of the iDog. Fall, $34.99.

Mobimals are kind of an odd concept for me (probably not for kids, though) so I'll just quote from the press release: "...MOBIMALS can sense a signal from virtually any cell phone in their environment. Once a MOBIMAL picks up on a signal, it will share its excitement by making animated facial expressions and hilarious monkey noises." OK! But they're cute. Fall, $14.99 each.

In addition, look for a Nerf gun that doubles as a Wii controller (very clever idea) and more startlingly realistic Furreal pets.

Exciting, a toy company moving with the global enviroment, following the path dictated by the consumer. Great!
