It's not the gPhone--but Texas Instruments will be demonstrating a prototype cell phone based on Google's Android platform.
The mobile phone, which will debut at the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona, is reportedly one click away from Web browsing, e-mail, messaging, and video, and provides application integration. It will run on TI's OMAP850 phone processor, which has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth short-range wireless access.
Google announced plans for Android and released its Android SDK for developers in November of 2007. The Linux-based, open source platform for mobile devices is part of the Open Handset Alliance, a partnership between Google and at least 34 participants, including T-Mobile, HTC, Qualcomm and Motorola.
T-Mobile and HTC said last year that they expect to have Android phones on the market in the second half of 2008.
