Ever wish you had a visual record of everything that happens in front of your car? Brickhouse Security may have what you're looking for. The Car Camera Recorder Pro is a rearview mirror sleeve that comes with a built-in video camera, a 2.5-inch LCD, and a memory card slot. You simply clamp the thing to your existing mirror and plug it into your car's DC outlet. It's essentially a mobile DVR on auto-pilot; it starts recording the moment you start the car, and quits when you shut the engine off.
There are media controls on the unit in case you want to play or preview video while you're still in the car. The unit has a TV-out so you can watch the results on a regular television, and there's also an auxiliary camera to record what's behind you as well. Overall, it looks like it's good for use as a backup camera, for checking up on the kids in the rear seat, and for having evidence for court in case of an accident or other mishap.
The Car Camera Recorder Pro costs $399 direct from Brickhouse Security (including a $50-online rebate). The company is throwing in a free 1GB SD card with purchase.
Thanks to Warren W for sending in the tip!
