Nokia%20N810.jpg

Nokia's new N810 Internet Tablet phone is not likely to end the reign of in-car navigation systems. But it might just start a trend.

There is no integrated PIM functionality. So this handset's GPS receiver and a standard mapping application don't exactly coax it into being a full-fledged navi. But with a 400MHz processor, 4.13in 800 x 480 screen and a car mount, the N810 might just be perfect for those who don't drive a whole lot, but tend to loose their way when they do.

Other cool features worth noting include Wi-Fi capability and a Debian-based Linux OS called Maemo, which, according to PC Pro, makes it easy to add applications, or even write your own.

So again, the N810 won't compel auto manufactures to change course on onboard navis. That said, we could see more handsets on the market, offering similar GPS apps.
