Carscoop reports that a new double-DVD and multimedia system is now available on U.K.-spec Lexus RX 350 and 450h models. The new ICE (In-Car Entertainment) packages consist of two 8-inch WVGA screens, mounted on slim tablets that fit into the backs of the front seats. The tablets also contain integrated, slot-loading DVD drives, an SD card slot, and a USB 2.0 reader.
They have manual control panels, although apparently a remote is also offered—the report didn't mention if it's extra-cost. The tablets also come with two pairs of infrared, wireless headphones that fold up. "The premium ICE package, available to order now, is provided as standard on SE-L versions of the UK market RX 350 and RX 400h and as an option on all other grades, priced at £2,200," the report said.
Personally I'd prefer something either built into the headrests from the factory, on a drop down panel on the ceiling, or even something much less expensive that you mount on the seats with velcro—the above-listed price is incredibly high.
