Lest anyone think that small economy hatchbacks can't be loaded with tech gear from the factory, Motor Trend has the details on the 2009 Ford Fiesta's interior layout. For those of you unfamiliar with the model, the Fiesta was available for a short while way back when in North America, but its primary markets have been overseas. The new version will be based on the Mazda2 and includes what the company claims is an instrument panel center stack inspired by mobile phones.

A large-screen display and control panel houses buttons for audio, in-car phone, and vehicle settings, the report said. And the car will come with Bluetooth integration, unspecified "auxiliary media player connectivity," and red-tinted ambient lighting.

What's exciting is that we'll actually see a variant of this car in North America for 2010. It could potentially make up for Ford's gradual sanitization of the formerly fun Focus ZX3 hatchback.
