Old-but-new smart phone company MWg, who just came out with their first US smart phone, are going to launch phones with wireless charging in 2008, they said today in a press release. MWg makes high-end Windows Mobile devices; we saw their lineup including their US model, the Atom Life, at CES.They're pairing up with Splashpower to do inductive charging, which is like the way electric toothbrushes work: you just lay your smart phone down on a special pad (the pad is plugged into the wall) and the phone charges wirelessly.
The first MWg wireless-power smart phones will come out by mid year, the company says.
