Oh the sweet, sweet things they get.
I took a trip to Motorola's massive booth at the Convention Center's Central Hall, and I have to say that, while the company was showcasing all kinds of cool looking gear, nothing caught my eyes quite to immediately as the Z1, and of course, like just about every other innovative cell phone technology, it's not going to be coming out in the States, any time soon.
The phone is set to be released in Europe at the beginning of this year. I asked a Motorola representative whether we could expect the device here any time soon, and he gave the stock, "we can't speculate on such things" answer, which, of course, doesn't mean never, but also means that now might not be the best time to start holding your breath.
The first thing you notice about the handset is its kick slider design. The kick slider feature was seen on last year's Z8, but has yet to really take hold in the market. It's one of the better designs for video-centric phones, of which the Z10 is unquestionably one.
The Z10 is the fastest cameraphone on the market, capturing images in about a second (compared to about five seconds on an average phone). It can also capture high-quality video at 30-fps.
Once you've captured said video, you can either edit it directly on the phone, adding transitions to other scenes, voiceovers, and music, and then upload it directly to sites like YouTube, Google, Yahoo!, and Shozu.
The capacity on the device is nominal, but can be expanded via microSD.
