I'd make some casually offensive remark about your being over-the-hill and one day closer to death, were I not so sure that you're going to outlive the rest of us.
Born in Denmark on January 28, 1958, you've led a full life. You discovered electricity in the mid-60s, had a kids a year later, and moved to the States in 1973. Others might have scratched their heads and bandied about offhand claims of mid-life crises when you built that pirate ship in 1989 or when you headed into that obsession with robotics, telling you to act your age, but we'd never doubt you. You were born fully formed, and have only gotten better with age.
Gizmodo has a handy timeline of the LEGO brick's life, and a quick Harper's-style rundown of some fun facts: for example, "There are about 62 LEGO bricks for every one of the world's 6 billion inhabitants" and "7 LEGO sets are sold by retailers every second around the world."
Also featured on the timeline is the fact that in 1996, a little-known company called Google built expandable hard drives using the LEGO brick during the creation of its new search engine. A dozen years and billions of dollars later, the company has paid a fitting homage to the Danish company with an updated version of its logo.
