A couple years ago, Gateway closed up its "PC petting zoos." Now TWICE is reporting that Dell is shutting the doors on its own 140 Dell Direct Stores across the United States. Tony Weiss, VP of Dell's global consumer business, said the computer maker will instead continue to focus on direct-to-customer sales. Weiss might know a thing or two about closing up shop; he's the former president/CEO of CompUSA, which also just happened to shut its doors recently.
And don't worry dude, you can still get your Dell PC without having to pick up the phone. Dell will continue to sell its PCs through major retailers, including Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Costco and Staples.
