Okay, everybody, calm down. There's a rumor going around on perfectly respectable blogs that Dell and Google are building a mobile phone, entirely based on an unsourced story in the UK's Marketing Week that seems so spurious, I refuse to link to it. Go click on that Engadget link instead and give them your hits.
I spoke to Dell's Anne Camden, and she says they are not going to be at this year's Mobile World Congress (formerly known as 3GSM) conference, and they are not releasing a phone there. Now, I agree that it wouldn't be totally insane for Dell to put out a phone; they used to make very good PDAs. And their phone might even run Google's Android OS. But you're not going to see it next month, okay?

The rumor never said Dell was going to release a phone at the Mobile World Congress, just that it and Google were supposed to announce something at Mobile World Congress.

The rumor said, "Google is plotting the launch of a mobile phone in partnership with computer giant Dell. Senior industry sources claim the two companies will reveal their plans at next month's 3GSM telecoms conference in Barcelona."
They specifically used the words "the launch of a mobile phone."
