Okay, I have to apologize: something about my Sony Ericsson story yesterday was wrong. I didn't understand the somewhat kooky, but cool SensMe function on the new W760 Walkman phone. But I got a demo today, and it's even cooler than I thought it was.
SensMe assigns moods to your songs, so you can create playlists based on songs of similar mood. And yes, it does assign those moods automatically. If you load your songs using Sony's media application, the app does two things: it makes sure the song has a beats-per-minute tag and it acoustically analyzes the song, combining its own data with the song's genre tag, to decide whether the song is sad or happy. So yes, it can autodetect the misery of Belle and Sebastian.
Then, when you look at the songs on your phone in the new Walkman 3.0 player, you see the 'galaxy' of songs above. Using the phone's control buttons, you pick a point to center on, and then expand a circle to absorb the nearby songs you want. From that circle, the phone creates a playlist.
This seems very neat. I can't wait to get a W760 to try it on. The feature has been available on a few European phones so far, but nothing in the US.

i have a w910i with this function. I used the sony media manager to move all the songs but nothing has appeared in the sensme function. I figured it was analyzing the songs as it took like 1.5 hours to download 16 albums anyone got any ideas?
