Turbofan Toaster

I predict that come 2008, there will be a shortage of this particular toaster, providing someone makes and sells it. The conceptual Turbofan Toaster, designed by a graduate of Central St. Martins College in London, is supposed to toast bread really, really quickly. How? With its ducted fans, which blow hot air over the toast from both sides, reducing toasting time from an average of 141 seconds to just 50 seconds. And ketchup company Heinz is apparently on board to offer this toaster soon: Nathan Ansell of Heinz, said, "With more Brits leading busier, more solitary lifestyles than ever before, this innovative toaster design is an ingenious kitchen gadget."

According to Ubergizmo, "Titanium fans [inside the toaster] spin at 10,000 RPM and the heating elements use 'nylon-based laser technology'." Wow, that's a lot of RPMs for just a toaster! Seriously though, I don't really need my toaster to toast faster; my problem is with the toast getting cold too quickly after it's done.

Okay, I am thoroughly unimpressed. Not only does this look like it could make the lights dim on my whole block, but it still takes almost a minute to toast what appears to be one slice of toast. Considering then that all normal toasters let you toast at least two slices at a time, this is, in effect, slower than the $15 toaster from CVS.

That, and if this thing got to close to the Thanksgiving turkey, it'd get sucked in, and your entire holiday would crash and burn.
