Production%20Model%20Chevy%20Volt.jpg

We've all seen the now famous Chevy Volt concept. But what about its imminent production variant?

One doesn't need to be a studio designer to recognize that the excessively angular, high-drag form of the concept simply won't due on the production level. And as Autoblog points out, even Bob Lutz joked about the the sharp-edged vehicle, conceding that it would fare "better if they put it in the wind tunnel backwards." The largest automaker's multi-million dollar green bet clearly lacks in aerodynamics and will need a makeover if it is to enjoy production success.

The photo above is a glimpse of what that makeover might accomplish. Bob Boniface, the man behind Volt's exterior, will be charged with the task. Of course, to get the job done right, General Motors should have called on to Boris Jacob - the head designer of Volt's sleeker European sibling Flextreme. Thus, If all goes well, the 2010 model year will bring a production Volt without the sharp elbows.
